God's Word for Renewal, Hope and  Strength for 2023

We enter every new year with God who gives us a fresh start and a new beginning. He gives us instructions to follow in His Word telling us how we are to let go and let God. His instructions are not hard to follow but the keeping of them is what we struggle with.  I looked at a passage in the Book of Isaiah chapter 43:18-21 that I would like to share with you, my readers.

18.”Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

19. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. 20. The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. 21. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

Here the Lord is telling us to cease from doing things that are contrary to His will, repent and be renewed. We are to trust in God’s redemption through Christ and rejoice. Our Savior has come paid the penalty of sin for us, redeeming us and will someday return to earth. So, let us take a look at these verses; God wants us to forget the former things, neither consider the things of old. The verses before (16-17) tell us of what God did for His children.  He made a way in the wilderness through the Red Sea and His power prevailed over Pharaoh’s army.  We read Pharoah’s army was drowned in the Red Sea and His children came over on dry land.

But in these verses 18-21, tell us that in order to move forward with God in this season we are to forget our failures, our disappointments, our discouragements and other setbacks, for our God is going to do a new thing for us. All we need to do is to focus on Him in order for us to know what it is He has planned for us.  If we stay in our past failures, we will lose future victories.

God is asking the same questions today as He did over 500BC, “Shall you not know it I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the deserts!”

Trust God today, Be well! and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to all!
